Abstract Firstly, this paper discusses on the importance of intelligent dormitory management system in colleges and universities, then studies on the K-means algorithm, and applies the algorithm to the intelligent dormitory allocation. At last, the data of individual students are collected through questionnaire survey and preprocessed and normalized. K-means algorithm is used to cluster the data of individual students. The validity and relevance of the algorithm in the three-dimensional space of data set dimensions, emotional stability and ID are discussed.
