The purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics of tongue shape change of plosives in Tibetan Amdo dialect, and to quantitatively analyze the tongue shape data of five speakers by ultrasound imaging technology. In this study, the dorsal tongue shift index (DEI) and tongue contraction index (TCPI) are used to analyze the changes of tongue shape of soft palate stops, gingival stops and double labial stops in different vowel environments. The results show that DEI could effectively distinguish plosives, and the DEI value of soft palate stops is high, and there is no significant difference in different vowel environments. However, the DEI values of gingival stops and bilabial stops are affected by the following vowels, and the DEI values of non-low vowels are generally higher than those of low vowels. The TCPI value is higher when followed by the vowel /e/, indicating a greater shift in the anterior part of the tongue. This study validates the validity of DEI and TCPI as measures of tongue shape and movement, providing a reliable means for phonetic research. In addition, the application of ultrasound imaging technology provides a reference for the field of speech pathology, which is helpful for the theoretical support of minority language protection, teaching and speech disorder intervention.
