Abstract

Energy maintenance of wireless sensor network nodes is not easy to achieve, so energy saving is one of the main consider- ations in network design. Based on the study of hierarchical cluster-head LEACH algorithm, an improved algorithm—NLEACH al- gorithm is proposed. K times of the ratio between the residual energy of the node and the total energy of the system is introduced as the residual energy factor in the threshold calculation, which affects the change of cluster head number and network life cycle. In ad- dition, for nodes with different residual energy, nodes with more residual energy can act as cluster heads with high probability, in or- der to take advantage of the energy of each node. Through MATLAB simulation experiment, the results show that compared with LEACH algorithm, NLEACH algorithm prolongs the network life cycle and increases the data transmission volume.
