Recognition of Vortex Based on OpenCV

Abstract   A visual system for identifying and tracking aerosolized vortex based on OpenCV is designed. After obtaining the real-time image through the USB camera, the image is preprocessed by Gaussian blur, histogram equalization, edge detection, Hough circle transformation and image overlay, followed by binarization, contour detection and minimum fitting circle. The identification and po- sition determination of the aerosolized vortex are realized, and finally the trajectory of the vortex moving in real time is drawn.
