Abstract This article discuss about the control methods of background music in making multimedia courseware by using authorware 7．0，which use voice icon、variability、DirectMediaXtra Plug-ins and external functions；emphasize how to play background music randomly by using external function．So that it is very convenient and fast to control the background music in multimedia courseware，then the multimedia courseware become flexible and vivid．
