Abstract Equipment mounted on the tower and transmission line which are used for monitoring, operation, maintenance and
communication needs power supply which is stable, durable and reliable. With the analysis of the merits, drawbacks and applicability
of the local and remote power supply modes, the article puts forward several modes suitable for equipment mounted on the tower
and transmission line, which are photovoltaic electric, wind power, battery and power extraction. And a new type of power supply
mode is proposed. Compared with the traditional power supply mode, the output power of power extraction or remote power feeding
along OPGW is larger, but it is recommended for further research on the issues of stability, impact on the safety of transmission line
and the economy, and so on.
